Karen Lonsdale

Flute, Piccolo and Voice

Karen studied flute with Gerhard Mallon at the Queensland Conservatorium and with Paul Meisen at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich.

She is a freelance flautist with the Queensland Orchestra, Lecturer in Flute at the University of Southern Queensland, an AMEB Examiner and is in demand as an Adjudicator at major eisteddfods and music competitions around Australia.

Karen is in the final year of a doctorate at Griffith University on the topic of injury prevention and management for flute players.  In 2008, she presented on this topic at the National Flute Association convention in Kansas City, USA, and at the Australian Society for Performing Arts Health Care conference in Melbourne. She's been invited to present at the Australian Flute Festival in Adelaide, and at several other conferences in 2009.
